- Karen was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and had a typical middle-class upbringing. She has 3 siblings - Sister Kathy Robinson and brothers Mike and John King. Karen is the eldest child in her family.

Ms. Borta, Many years ago when I was program chairman for my club, I booked you to be a speaker as I have enjoyed your journalism and personality so much since moving to Dallas in 1997. A few days before you were to speak, you lost a friend and her funeral was that day. Tracy Rowlett filled in for you and did a beautiful job. I was asked to do programs for the coming club year again and I would still love to have you come and share your career and stories with us.
I always watch early news and I agree with everyone on how talented Karen is in presenting the news, and also agree she is a great looking lady. CBS 11 is by far the best news channel.
Besides being beautiful, Ms. Karen Borta knows her job well. She is a good daughter and a caring mother, humble, efficient, patient and does not have to wear sexy clothes to get her job done. She sets a good example for all women in the workforce.
