Michelle was raised in the state of California. At the age of 18, she graduated from Notre Dame High School.
From there she went on to attend the University of Michigan, from which she graduated with a Master’s degree in Creative Writing.

After meeting comedian Patton Oswalt in 2002, the two began dating. She stated she was primarily attracted to his smile.
They married in a small ceremony on 24 September 2005, and had their first child – daughter Alice Rigney (born on 15 April 2009).

With Michelle’s birthday being just one day earlier on the 14th April, she described daughter Alice as the best birthday present ever.

Crime, Books & Writing Career :

Michelle ran the website True Crime Diaries. It was a website dedicated to discussing current and cold case murders, something she admitted that she found bizarrely interesting and fun.

Through the website, she wrote over 150 posts.
Her work with the site attracted The Los Angeles magazine who asked her to write a piece for them on the unsolved Golden State Killer.
Her piece was so widely praised that she was then approached by Harper Collins and asked to write a book on the issue.

She was working on the book at the time of her death, and her husband stated she lived and breathed it. He said he honestly thought with her research she would figure out who the Golden State Killer was.
He pledged to finish her book using her research materials and a ghostwriter, and hopes to release it in her honor in 2018.

How Did Michelle Mcnamara Die : Cause of Death

On 21st April 2016, Michelle died in her sleep in her LA home.
Her husband had stated that the previous night she had been up late writing, so he had crept out of their room that morning quickly so as not to wake her.
He had then taken their daughter to school & ran some morning errands. After he returned home and tried to wake her up, he realized she was dead.

Autopsy : She died of as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition that was worsened by her use of Xanax and Adderall.
Around that time, her husband has been working with the TV series The Goldbergs, who subsequently dedicated season 3 of the show to her.
She had turned 46 a week prior to her death, and Oswalt later said that she did not just leave a void behind in his life – she left a blast crater.
