Tony Dokoupil, a tall man with dark, brown hair, is a correspondent for the CBS News and an author of the non-fiction book The Last Pirate. He is married to famed NBC News correspondent Katy Tur.
Education : Qualifications, High School & College Info
- In 1999, Dokoupil enrolled in The George Washington University School of Business.
 - While he was there, he was the captain of the school’s baseball team.
 - He graduated in 2003 after double-majoring in marketing and communications.
 - For his master’s degree, Dokoupil attended Columbia University in 2004. He attended the school’s New York city campus.
 - While attending school, he worked as a staff writer for the Periscope section of Newsweek magazine.
 - In 2005, he graduated with a Master’s in American studies.
 
Work as a Writer :
- Tony continued to work as a writer for Periscope for another year before becoming a senior writer in June of 2007 for both Newsweek and The Daily Beast.
 - During his 6 years working for these publications, Dokoupil wrote a string of cover stories that remain some of the strongest writing of his career. Among them are The Suicide Epidemic, iCrazy, and Dustoff 73.
 - In 2009, while still working for Newsweek and The Daily Beast, he began writing The Last Pirate, a book published by the Penguin Random House — imprint Doubleday. The book was a memoir about growing up with his father, a man who joined the largest marijuana crime syndicate in the United States during its time, and what that did to him and his family.

- In June 2013, Tony began working with NBC News & contributed videos and features to MSNBC and NBC News’ online platforms.
 - In July 2015, he became a national reporter for MSNBC, and in October of 2015, he became a network correspondent.
 - As a correspondent, Tony has covered national stories such as the Paris Climate Agreement, the Flint Water Crisis, and the US Presidential primaries.
 - In August 2016, he switched to CBS News and became a correspondent for them. He continues to work for CBS News today.
 
Early Life :
- Dokoupil’s childhood should have been a tumultuous one due to his father’s involvement in bringing Colombian marijuana to the United States, but for the most part, it was great.
 - He attended private schools and grew up in a small, isolated corner of Miami where his father made sure he knew nothing of the drugs.
 - When he was 6, however, his father vanished from his life & he spent some time of his adult life looking for him. They reunited in 2014.
 
Marriage and Relationships :
- In October of 2017, Dokoupil tied the knot with Katharine Bear Tur, known professionally as Katy Tur.
 - Tur is an NBC News correspondent, and met Dokoupil in the makeup room when they both still worked for MSNBC.
