Professional Life : Meeting with Nagraj
After Nagraj Manjule won awards for his first short film Pistulya, Nagraj was felicitated at his village Jeur.
The village Jeur is near Somnath’s village of Kem. At this award function, he saw Somnath playing a music instrument and decided to cast him for his role in Fandry.
He refers to Nagraj as Anna Kaka.
Initial Reluctance :
Initially, he was first very afraid of acting and used to hide at his village’s water tank when Nagraj’s team used to come to his home to convince him for taking up the job.
Even Somnath’s parents were angry because of this attitude. Later, Nagraj managed to convince him by asking him to come to Pune once and look at the world of cinema.
After the shooting was completed, Somnath had no idea about how the movie was edited and its post production work etc. He saw the movie only when it was released in theatres a few months later.
