Early Life and Education :

Upendra Limaye was born and brought up in Sadashiv Peth, Pune, in a simple middle-class family. None of his family members were related to the acting industry. A student of the New English High School, he was very active in school plays which were his first steps in the field of acting.

While still in college he acted in a play called Padgham directed by Jabbar Patel. Later on, he headed to Lalit Kala Kendra for formal education in arts and drama. In his younger days, he was also the co-founder of a natak platform called Parichay which hosted different plays for a period of around a decade.

Career Progress :

The actor made his move to Mumbai came in 1998. He is one of the few Marathi actors to have a national award against his name. This came for the movie Jogwa, which was unarguably one of his best performances to date.

Due to his strong acting skills and ability to perform in parallel cinema, he has worked with big directors like Ram Gopal Verma, Jabbar Patel, Vinay Apte, Amol Palekar, etc.

His height is around 5 ft 8 inches.
