Ramirez began her TV career in 2010 when she worked on the BBC Four documentary Treasures of the Anglo-Saxons. When the show gained popularity, it was moved to BBC Two.
Her TV career began with a phone call – When a BBC researcher contacted the history professor about Anglo Saxons, apparently, “three hours later we were still talking, and my name was suggested as someone to front their program.”
Janina’s TV career quickly took off, and since 2010, she has appeared in several documentaries and mini-series – The Viking Sagas (2011), Illuminations: The Private Lives of Medieval Kings (2012), The Hundreds Years’ War (2013), Saints and Sinners (2015) and The Secret Lives of Books (2015).

Some of her more recent works include the TV mini-series documentary following the events which led up to the Battle of Hastings: ‘1066: A Year to Conquer England’ (2017). The popular personality has also appeared on game shows ‘Pointless Celebrities’ and ‘Christmas University Challenge.’
Janina often writes and provides her own content for TV documentaries and is involved in many research projects.

Following her studies, Janina landed Art History lecturing posts in top universities like York, Warwick, Oxford and Winchester.
She is a director for the undergraduate History of Art Course at the prestigious University of Oxford.
In 2015, Janina published her debut novel ‘The Private Lives of Saints: Power, Passion and Politics in Anglo-Saxon England.’ A year later, she released ‘Julian of Norwich.’ Both books have received positive reviews.

Dr Janina is the full package! Smart, interesting and gothically speaking very attractive. Just watched her documentary on the Olmecs pre Mayan history. Very well done and captures the details. Soldier on!
