Melanie Collins was born on February 6, 1986, in State College, Pennsylvania.
She is a middle child, with brothers on either side – Older brother, Christian, and younger brother, Kurtis.
Melanie’s parents, Nancy and Doug, are no longer married, but both still reside in the State College area.

Between her job and her long-term relationship with Canadian NHL player James Neal, Melanie has lived around the country.
She seems, however, to have remained in their Nashville home (where James played from 2014-2017) despite him having been traded to Vegas, and now Calgary.

Although she did not start in the business until later in life, sports – hockey specifically – was a big part of Melanie’s life growing up. In fact, her family still continues a Christmas tradition of playing a game of pick-up.
In 2008, Collins graduated from Penn State with a degree in communications. Her big break came in her sophomore year when she worked as a bartender, and a coworker asked if she wanted some on-air experience by working at AccuWeather. She jumped on the opportunity and kept moving forward from there.

Following her stint with AccuWeather, Melanie got an internship at PBS affiliated WPSU-TV. What started as a job “collecting stats for the guy there” developed into a co-hosting job for the show Let’s Talk Sports Nittany Lions Fans.
Before leaving the network upon graduation, she had covered Penn State football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball.

TV Career, Job, Salary and Net Worth :

During her senior year, Melanie also earned an internship with the Big Ten Network (BTN). Starting out behind the scenes, she was hired by the network after graduation to cover Penn State football.
When the season was over, she immediately got offered a job by NBA-TV Atlanta, where she remained for one year as an online host and reporter.
Over the next couple of years, Melanie was featured on several major networks, including MLB, NASCAR, PGA, PGATour, CSN Bay Area, E! News Now and NBC Sports Network.
