A three-year PPE course at Oxford sounded more fun than five years of medical school, so Samantha gave up her early dreams of becoming a surgeon.

Samantha’s career began at Oliver Wyman where she worked as a consultant for management. She then went to work in finance at Barclays Capital. Washington described her time working in finance and management as exhausting and filled with extraordinarily long hours.

After a few years, she grew tired of the gruelling career path & decided to pursue a career in journalism.
Samantha began by working for the award-winning station, Radio 4 as a producer on their hit programme called Money Box.

Once when Samantha was asked about the toughest part of her job, she had the following reply – Confrontational interviews are tough as interviewees are often leading politicians or CEOs, and one is expected to put them through their paces, while remaining polite, fair and tough. The presenter has to remain calm when everything around you falls apart, to be able to speak even though someone is permanently speaking in their ears, and just to accept criticism about the presenter’s looks.
Sometimes Samantha gets odd letters from people – She received one asking about the size of her feet and another desiring a photo of her legs.
