Personal Life : Parents, Family and Education

Sandra’s heritage is Japanese. Her grandfather, George Yamauchi, was an American Japanese living on the West Coast. However, he was held captive following Executive Order 9066 (authorizing internment of thousands of American citizens of Japanese ancestry) during World War II.
Her father is from Fukushima City, Japan. As a child, Sandra often spent her summers there with her cousins.
Endo is married to Sam Suzuki. They have a daughter named Summer, who was born in October 2014.

Sandra is a graduate of New York University (NYU) with a double major in politics and journalism and a minor in East Asian Studies. She was a recipient of the NYU’s Presidential Honors Scholar Program.
She became a Loyola Law School Journalist Fellow in 2007.

Sandra began her journalism career with ABC News as an intern.
She then worked for WNBC-TV & then later with NY1 in 1998 as a video journalist and field producer.
She was later promoted to lead political reporter at NY1, covering four national political conventions and other major events such as New York City’s transit strike in 2005. She also co-hosted ‘Inside City Hall’ on NY1.

In 2008, Endo joined CNN Newsource as a national correspondent based in Washington, D.C. There she covered the Presidential campaign in 2008, the inauguration of former President Barack Obama, and also other key incidents such as the explosion of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig & the death of pop star legend Michael Jackson.
She then joined Fox 11 News in 2013, located in Los Angeles, after searching for a few months while working freelance for WMAQ-TV in Chicago.
In her career with Fox, Sandra has covered a wide array of events, such as the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, Hurricane Sandy, and the terror bomb plot in Times Square.
