- Tracy was born in Silicon Valley, California. She spent her initial years living there.
- From 2009 – 2013, she studied at the San Jose State University, where she got a degree Bachelor’s of Science in Journalism.
- Later, she went on to attend the Mississippi State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Operational Meteorology. She graduated in 2017.

- Over the course of her career, Hinson has worked with KSBW & was also part of other networks such as KNTV and KGO-TV, where she gained valuable experience in the field of weather reporting.
- In 2015, she decided to move to Michigan and started her stint with WXMI network.
- Since May 2017, Tracy is a part of the KPTV network in the role of a meteorologist & reporter. She is based in Portland, Oregon.

- Since she was very young, Tracy felt attracted to science. In 1998 she was able to see a tornado almost up close, which unleashed her attraction and curiosity about this topic.

- Hinson has participated in many rodeos with her horse named “Star”. In 2011 she won the title “Miss Wine Country Rodeo 2011” and in 2012 she won the title “Miss California Rodeo Salinas.”
- She also has a pet black-tailed prairie dog. When she moved to Michigan, she thought that it was a very common pet, but was surprised when she came to know that it was not. In some states, it is illegal to have them.
- A multi-talented individual, Tracy is well versed in playing instruments such as the flute and the piano. She is also a certified diver. She says that whenever she has the opportunity, she gets into the water.
