Working mom, Wendy Ryan, is the face of ABC Action News – WFTS at Tampa in Florida. She receives deep admiration for her investigative reporting and her passion for encouraging people to consume ‘clean’ food.
Personal Life & Family :
- Wendy is from Cleveland & she moved to Tampa, Florida, in 2003.
- Few people are aware that she was once a child actor. At the tender age of four, she appeared in her first national commercial.
- Wendy married Jerome Ritchey in 2003, after dating him for two years. A former disc jockey, and currently an anchor and on-air personality, Ritchey is from Illinois.
- The couple has a young daughter Raquel Ryan Ritchey, who was born in 2010, her “little miracle!”
- Besides Raquel, Wendy also has a 21-year-old son and 23-year-old daughter (ages as of 2021) from a previous marriage.
- Wendy’s inspiration is hands-on mom, Angelina Jolie, who has adopted three children after having three of her own.

- Wendy entered the University of Arizona in 1985 & graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in 1989. She studied Communication and Media Studies.

- Wendy joined the ranks of well-known television personalities in 1996.
- She took up the role of business news anchor and financial reporter for KWHY – TV, a business channel in Los Angeles.
- She quit in 2000, taking a job with NFN – Net Financial News in Miami, Florida.
- As their main anchor and financial reporter from 2000 until 2001, she even hosted her own TV show.
- From 2001 until 2003, Wendy was the main anchor and a medical reporter at WICS.
- Since 2003 till date, Ryan is with WFTS – TV. She has been co-anchoring the 5 pm, 6 pm and 11 pm editions of ABC Action News.
- She also joins the ABC Action News I-Team for investigating interesting, real-life stories.
- At WFTS, she also is a part of the Dirty Dining team. During this segment, Wendy visits restaurants in the Bay area, seeking culprits violating Florida’s Food Code.
- Due to Wendy’s strong reporting, around 17-18 restaurants were temporarily closed by health inspection officials.

- Wendy has been associated with the “Taking Action against Domestic Violence” Campaign for over eight years. She conducts a one-hour television show wherein survivors of domestic violence situations talk about their experiences.
- She is also a member of numerous charities dealing with human-related or animal-related issues. Usually, she helps raise funds for them or takes up the role of “master of ceremonies.”
- During her free time, Ryan enjoys going online and porIng over news stories.
- She is also a health and fitness freak, focused on yoga & conducts spin classes.
- Some of her other interests include occasionally pampering her body via a deep tissue massage, or a simple pedicure, and listening to music.
- A Napa Valley Cabernet is her favorite wine choice.
