Cassie was born on May 1, 1986.
Parents : Her mother, Nena Jaye, was a well-known cinematographer in the documentary world, and raised Cassie on her own after her father left before her birth.
Education : After high school, she took some film making courses at a local college, but came to realize that she would learn more from hanging out with her mother. As such, Cassie dropped out of her course.

She then set out to form her own production company, which she named Jaye Bird Productions. She hired her mother as a lead producer for the company.
Currently, she lives a private life in San Rafael, California.
She has said that many of her projects have resulted in her receiving hate mail, and it was the hate mail that taught her the importance of leading a private life, as she does not want to give her haters too much ammo to attack her with.

Cassie began working on her own production company from 2005 onwards, but it wasn’t until 2008 that Jaye Bird Productions became a full business.
Her vision with her company was to produce documentaries that contained a balanced approach to social and political issues of the day.

In 2010, she released her first project titled Daddy I do.
She followed this up with The Right To Love in 2012, for which she won the Telly Award for The Best Social Issues Documentary.
Cassie has said that she does not see her company as a way to get rich, more so just a way to fuel her creative interests. As such, she sees it as a responsibility to give back to the creative community where possible.

This has led to her sitting on the advisory boards for both The Tallgrass Film Festival and The Idyllwild Festival of Cinema.

Cassie’s most successful and controversial project to date is the film The Red Pill, which she released in 2016.

The beginning of the film documents her as a skeptical feminist who investigates the men’s rights movements. The end of the film shows her discovering that they are a movement based on equality, rather than a hate movement, and leads to her questioning her feminist views.
She was able to fund the project through her own company and through the program Kickstarter, but after her premieres from most cinemas were banned, she feared financial ruin.
After borrowing money from her mother, she was able to hold a proper premiere for her film in New York City at the Cinema Village on October 7, 2016.

Although panned by most for its message against feminism, there are many who have praised Cassie for bringing a touchy subject to many Americans who had never thought of it.
