Introduction :
- A spitting image of her late father, the young Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant was the second child of deceased NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his wife model Vanessa Laine Bryant.
- Since her days as a young child, Gianna had grabbed media eyeballs because of her sporting skills, and her decision to pursue her father’s path of playing basketball.
Education and Family :
- Gianna was born in May 2006 in Los Angeles, California.
- A mixed ethnicity child, she was born to an African-American father & a Mexican mother.
- She grew up surrounded by luxury with her parents and her three siblings – Natalia, Bianka Bella Bryant and the youngest Capri Kobe Bryant.
- Education : Gianna attended Sierra Canyon School. The co-ed private school located in LA’s neighborhood of Chatsworth is constantly ranked as one of the best schools & charges over $30,000 in yearly tuition fees.
- A budding basketball player like her famous dad, Gianna had aspirations to play for UConn Huskies women’s basketball team. Growing up, she often attended practice sessions with Kobe and the LA Lakers team.
- Possessing the genes and raw talent of her dad, Gianna was often referred to as ‘Mamba Junior’ as her Dad had the nickname ‘Black Mamba.’ Kobe also took a lot of interest in Gigi’s game and often coached her team.
- Her sister Natalia chose a different path, playing volleyball for Sage Hill School at the middle hitter position. Natalia’s middle name is ‘Diamant’ which means ‘Diamond’ in Spanish.

Death, Funeral and Obituary :
- Unfortunately, on January 26, 2020, Gianna passed away in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, along with her father. The basketball & entire sporting world was plunged into sadness on the news of Kobe and his daughter’s death.
- It can be said that both the dad & daughter duo passed away pursuing something they loved. The helicopter was heading to Mamba Academy for a basketball practice session when the crash happened.
