- John Dineen was born on December 17, 1981, in Waterfall, Ireland to parents Patrick and Marie Dineen and was raised on the farm that his parents live to date.
- He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Food Business and Development at the University College Cork. He then went on to finish his Masters from University College, Dublin in 2005.
- The last job he held was as a Senior Director at FTI Consulting at their London office.

- Dineen met Michelle Dockery, an actress, through an old friend of his, Allen Leech, who also happens to be Michelle’s co-star. Michelle is popular for playing the lead female role in the popular ITV period drama, Downtown Abbey, from 2010 to 2015.

- John passed away on December 13, 2015, after losing his fight against brain cancer. His funeral took place on December 16, just a day before what would have been his 34 birthday.
- Michelle referred to him as “my hero, my king, my everything” while she and family said their final goodbyes to John. She then sang a rendition of “The Folks on the Hill” from the altar after John’s father persuaded her.
