- Being the daughter of an American icon, John Wayne, who passed away due to stomach cancer in 1979, Marisa took it upon herself to be like her father. Marisa went on to start the John Wayne Cancer Foundation to support efforts to battle cancer.

I really enjoyed reading about you because you are John Wayne’s daughter. Our whole family is a big John Wayne fan. We love all his films because he is in them and HE makes the film great. Our all-time favorite is “The Quiet Man”. We, that is my husband and I hail a Scott/Irish heritage and our four adult children traditionally watched the movie on St. PATRICK’S Day while we chowed down on corn beef and cabbage! We love the USA flag and our national anthem and have seen many movies with your Dad in them making us proud to be American.
