- Janette was born to a Cuban family in Miami, Florida, on November 16, 1983.
- Surprisingly, Janette had little knowledge of dancing before the age of 19. Till that point, the only dancing she had done was at home. That too only the Salsa dance form which her Cuban family knew.
- Janette had first begun performing in musical theatre at the age of 12 & by the end of school she decided to go to Florida International University to study Finance with dreams of becoming a banker.
- While studying at university she progressed with her formal dance training after starting at the age of 19.
- After university, she worked as a banker for seven years while continuing her dance training in an array of disciplines including Ballroom, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Salsa.
Career Starts & Love Blossoms :
- At 24 years old, Janette decided to audition for Season 5 of So You Think You Can Dance and made it through. Later, she even made it to the final eight in the show.
- This was her first taste of dancing on live TV and lead to her working on a selection of programmes including Glee, followed by Strictly Come Dancing.
- However, while working on Strictly Come Dancing, Janette met Aljaž Skorjanec, who she got engaged to in 2015 and eventually they married on July 15, 2017.
- The couple managed to have three separate wedding celebrations, in London, Florida, and Slovenia, because their grandparents were unable to travel. The marriage was covered by the media. Janette’s wedding dress was much appreciated & many famous faces were included on the guest list.
