Emma was born November 30, 1996, in Begbroke, Oxfordshire, England.
Before her claim to fame, she was a project manager trainee at Inside Out Development in Bicester. She planned to apply at Oxford University for a degree in quantity surveying.
She has a sister named Lorna Woodhams, and a brother named Harry Woodhams. Her mother is Claire Mulligan who is currently based in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.

Emma joined Love Island as an addition to the show in late June 2016. Her ex-boyfriend, Tom Powell who is one of the original contestants in the show described her as “headstrong and sassy.”
The two split before Tom entered the show, and Emma claimed in an interview that her intentions were to confront him there. He was coupled up with Sophie Gradon.

She became a worldwide hot topic of conversation when scenes of her getting intimate with Terry Walsh under the sheets went on air.
