- Shain Gandee was a young actor who tragically passed away in the year 2013. He was famous for his appearances in Buckwild (2013) and Buckwild: WV to NYC (2013), two of MTV’s top-rated reality television shows.
- Shain came from West Virginia and was described by many peers as being sociable and loyal.
- Reports after his death suggested that he had a magnetic personality and an unmatched passion for life. A fellow cast member, Ashley Whitt tweeted that he was an amazing person and that she felt he would be watching over them.

- Shain (Full name : Shain Lelyn Gandee) was born on November 1, 1991, to Dale Gandee and Loretta Gandee in Sissonville, West Virginia, USA.
- From various reports we can surmise that he had been to High School.
- He is said to have been the Prom King in his high school but had to miss out on the dance because he was busy working and earning a livelihood.
- Shain’s interests ranged from mudding, hunting and four-wheeling. Sadly, he died while four-wheeling with his 48-year-old uncle David Gandee and Donald Myers. The tragic date was April 1, 2013, & Shain was just 21, at the time.
Controversy :
- Gandee and two others were found dead in his 1984 model Ford Bronco with its tail pipe submerged in mud.
- Even though initially there were doubts over his death, it was finally concluded after autopsy that the manner of his death was accidental and due to Carbon monoxide poisoning.
- It has to be pointed out that Shain Gandee was the third “Buckwild” cast member to be in the news. Another contestant Salwa Amin was arrested for possing and trying to sell drugs and Michael Douglas Burford, yet another cast member had been arrested for driving under influence.

- Shain’s reality show Buckwild was about the daily lives of nine adults in Sissonville in West Virginia, one of the poorest states in the country.
- The show was compared to Jersey Shore and was called the Jersey Shore of Appalachia. The first season received an excellent viewership of over 2.49 million views.
