Reece was born on June 17, 1986, and was raised in Los Angeles. She is an alumnus of the University of California in Los Angeles.
Her parents were immigrants from El Salvador.
Between the age of 11 and 18, Somaya’s life was a mess. She refused to go to school and joined gangs, which led her to being shot and stabbed & at some point she ran away from home since her dad was an alcoholic and her mum was verbally abusive.

It was at this point that she then met her boyfriend, became pregnant, and on returning home, her mom kicked her out.
Upon giving birth through cesarean, she went in to live with her boyfriend’s mother, who was mean to her. Shortly after, her son was murdered.

In March 2017, Somaya got engaged to her girlfriend, Shanell Jones, aka Lady Luck.
The two had been close ever since Somaya came into New York to film Love and Hip Hop, she says that Lady Luck was the first female MC to welcome her to NYC when no one else would!
After first connecting on things like art, their bond led them to do a business and music collaboration, a record called Boss Lady that featured Rasheeda from Love and Hip Hop Atlanta.
