Wikipedia Biodata / Profile Background

Profile :

We often talk about Jack of all trades but not a Jill of all trades. Sugandha Mishra is an Indian singer, Radio jockey, TV presenter, comedian, hostess all rolled into one. She first became known for her participation in Hero Honda – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar and later, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.

Personal Life :

Sugandha Mishra was born on 23rd May 1988 to parents – Father Santosh Mishra and Mother Savita Mishra. Her hometown is Jalandhar, Punjab. She got her first music lessons when she was four years old. Kaifi Azmiji got blown over by her first performance when she was just a chubby child of two and a half years old.

She became popular not only for her singing but also for her mimicry. Her mastery of mimicry is thanks to her mother and brother who are quite good at it. In 2016, she takes on Lata Mangeshkar, the goddess of singing generated a lot of controversies. Some found it disrespectful while the others took it in good humor.

She studied in the same university of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, from where the famous comedian Kapil Sharma had graduated. She faced restrictions in her family as her grandfather wanted her to pursue classical music only. But a performer inside her couldn’t live with that.

She hid her profession as an RJ and her participation in Laughter Challenge with help from family. She gave the credit to Kapil Sharma (whom she refers to as Bhaiya) as he recommended her to Laughter Challenge’s producers. Kapil was a senior to her in the University and also convinced her parents to send her for the auditions. She found a supporting brother in him.

Her grandfather later forgave her after seeing her on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Being from a musical family her stand up also became musical parodies. She never felt any indecisiveness about her two talents. For her music comes first while comedy is natural.

Career and Professional Life :

Singing is one of the most important parts of her career, more than anything else. This is not surprising since she belongs from the family of singers of Indore Gharana. She got her education at home only, from her grandfather, Pandit Shankar Lal Mishra, a disciple of Ustad Amir Khan Sahib. She followed this up with Masters in Music and started working on her doctorate.

Her identity started to build up in the public eye when she became an RJ for BIG FM. Her morning show got quite popular. In Hero Honda – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar she got an appreciation for her mesmerizing and versatile voice. She ended up being a third runner-up in the show. This accomplishment got her offers to sing for Bollywood movies like Shree and Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal.

It is not only her voice but also a sense of humour which is above par as well. Her talents like mimicry and stand up got exposure once she participated in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge where she was a finalist. No wonder this multitalented girl was soon talk of the town.

She got an invitation to perform on Dilip Kumar’s 90th birthday. In 2015, she worked on Comedy Nights with Kapil and a weekend shows Hansi He Hansi…Mil Toh Lein on Sab TV+.

She also acted in Bollywood movie Heropanti in 2014. She dreams about opening a music institute in Mumbai someday.
