  1. Hi Marty,

I used to know a young man (in the 1970s) named Marty Schwartz who lived in an apartment on Coronado Ave, in Long Beach, CA. His apartment was right above mine, and I would often hear him practicing his bass guitar. Are you related to this person? The Marty Schwartz that I knew was born probably around 1955. Please let me know…Thanks!!!

  2. Hey Marty, I want you to show me how to play the year of 39 old queen song off the album Night at the Opera. A lot of versions on the internet. Maybe you can make this one easy to follow along and play?

  3. From an old, old bass player (got to play behind Billy Joe Royal, “Down in the Boone docks”)…appreciate all you do especially your lessons on Bill Withers’s work. Thanks a lot, man.

    Hello Marty,

I’ve been watching you for a few years now and I really enjoy your humor and especially your musicianship. If I lived down in SD, I would be looking to take lessons from you in person. I always look forward to the new lessons that you put out.

    Thanks,
    Alexander Aliganga

  5. HELLO MARTY!!! A friend of mine appreciated your guitar lessons and suggested that I check out your beginner blues bass seminar. I just bought a bass and an amp but haven’t played for around half a century! I watched your tutorial and learned quite a bit on the first viewing! I feel that we could split a whitefish together. THANKS! Shabbat Shalom!!!

  6. I find a lot of the YouTube guitar instruction hard to follow or the instructor is confusing or talks about irrelevant things….But I like Marty! Easy to follow and listen to with some great instruction. You are my go-to teacher now!!!

  7. Whether I am casually playing guitar with friends, or seriously playing drums in my gigging band, one thing in common always comes up. When we are trying to figure out a song and get stuck after trying a few ways of playing it that doesn’t sound quite right. We look at each other and say “Marty Schwartz.” And before the “z” is fully pronounced, everyone is nodding their heads. No further explanation is needed!

  8. Man, what you do is great. I recently retired and have always played the guitar. I am self-taught and can not read music so I play a lot by ear. I now have time too and for myself to play.these last 2 years I have learned a lot from you. Your videos are amazing. Listening to you play is a pleasure and your instruction are precise. I am very appreciative of what you do. I just wanted to thank you. When I hear a song I want to learn the first I do is see if Marty has an instructional video. Again, thank you!
