Gayle Guyardo is an American reporter, journalist, and news anchor. She is most famous for being the midday anchor for WFLA Channel 8 News and Tampa Today, having worked on the same network for over 25 years.
Gayle stepped down from the WFLA morning-news anchor desk in early 2020 because of chronic vocal-cord problems, then immediately transitioned to host and executive-produce WFLA’s daily lifestyle program “Bloom” and its weekend edition “Bloom Tampa Bay,” roles she still holds to date.

Gayle Guyardo was born and raised in Tampa, Florida.
Her father was a dairy farmer and helped build the dairy farm along with her grandfather and uncle from the ground up. Her mom was an etiquette teacher.
She still happily works and lives in Tampa, being a long-term presenter on WFLA Channel 8.
Currently, Gayle lives with her loving husband, businessman Mark Pichowski and together they have four daughters – Katie, Lindsay, Ali, and Ella. All her four daughters are now adults – The eldest, Katie, joined a Tampa tech start-up, while twins Ali and Ella finished the Boston Marathon together in 2025. Their youngest daughter headed off to college in fall 2024.

Gayle began her education at the HB Plantation High School in Tampa, showing a natural desire and talent for writing and presenting from an early age, despite suffering from extreme shyness. She was also a bit of a tomboy in her childhood.
Moving briefly away from Tampa, she headed to Alabama to study for a degree in Broadcast Journalism at Auburn University in 1988.

Gayle began her career in journalism as a news anchor for a small channel in Sarasota, Florida, but was soon noticed by WFLA News Channel 8 in 1993 and offered a job.
Throughout a career spanning over 25 years with WFLA and sister station WLL, Gayle has held several positions, from journalist to Co-Anchor on features such as the ‘Early Morning Show,’ ‘Midday Show’ and ‘Tampa Today.’
For all those years, she has been waking up at 2:30 A.M. almost every weekday morning!
Briefly leaving WFLA in 2010 to explore ‘other projects,’ Gayle was very soon tempted back into the news studio and now enjoys her status as a much-loved Tampa celebrity and is always available to be involved in local charity projects.
After 33 years on the dawn shift, in 20202, Guyardo announced she was retiring from hard-news anchoring after doctors advised her to dramatically reduce her live newscast hours to protect her voice.
Soon after this, Gayle started off as the host and executive producer of the syndicated health and wellness lifestyle show “Bloom,” airing on WFLA and WTTA.
Gayle also has a personal website. A keen blogger in her spare time, Gayle has shared her personal activities, posted 100s of recipes, and also numerous family photos and videos.
