Gregory Palkot was born in 1954 in Garden City, New York, to Edward J. Palkot (father) and Anne Karris Palkot (mother). Anne Karris passed away in 1998, while Edward passed away in 2022.
Greg has two sisters, Barbara Hymans and Patricia Abdellatif, and a brother, Edward Palkot Jr.

Greg grew up in Garden City, New York, and attended Garden City High School. He graduated in 1972.
After finishing high school in Garden City, Greg attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
In February 2011, Greg was reporting from the ground in Cairo, Egypt, during the uprisings there when he was attacked by a violent pro-Hosni Mubarak group. Greg and his cameraman Olaf Wiig were badly beaten during the attack and then detained by military police once they were released from the hospital on the suspicion that they were foreign spies.

Greg currently resides in London, England, when he is not traveling the world in his duties as a foreign correspondent.

In 1998, Greg joined the ranks of Fox News, where he was initially a correspondent. He has since become a senior foreign correspondent based in Fox News’ London headquarters.
Throughout his career, Greg has reported on the ground from various major world events, including the aforementioned civil uprisings in Egypt, the Santiago de Compostela train derailment in Spain, the US SEAL raid on Osama bin Laden’s hiding place, the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that ravaged Japan in 2011, and the attack on the Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris in 2015. He was also present when former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed.
Palkot has often embedded with US troops and got to see plenty of combat. He was the first reporter on the scene during Saddam Hussein’s capture.

He has accompanied the Navy on their uncovering of modern-day pirates operating off the African coast.
Greg has also been on the ground in Europe, particularly covering the restless conflict in Greece when the economy plummeted, as well as rising tensions in Belgium and the Netherlands. He also got to observe counter-terrorism teams in France and the UK in their operations to stop terror attacks in Europe.

Greg’s father, Edward J. Palkot, passed away at 108.5 years old in February 2022. He is also a survivor of the 1918 flu pandemic (more known by the misnomer Spanish flu). Edward was only five years old when he contracted the disease, but he managed to escape its clutches. Edward was featured in ‘Aging Gracefully,’ a book that spotlights 52 centenarians from around the world
Greg’s very first assignment as a foreign correspondent was to travel to Berlin in 1989, where he got to witness the historic fall of the Berlin wall. Greg kept a piece of the wall which he still proudly displays on his desk.

I ask our Almighty God to give him dreams @ visions of angels unawares to protect them all. I pray that God will give him peace, knowing that we are praying for their protection & that the Lord will cover them from all harm, esp his wife & daughter. I have asked the Almighty to surround the entire perimeters of Kabul w/His mighty angels to thwart all wickedness & death.
