After high school in 2005, Lauren went on to pursue her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Alaska Anchorage. There, she initially chose theater as her major before switching to double majoring in Journalism and Public Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism. She graduated with the class of 2009.
While in college, she competed in NCAA Division I gymnastics under an athletic scholarship.

In her senior year of college, Lauren worked for ABC Alaska News in Anchorage, Alaska as a sports anchor. Post completing her graduation, she was offered a job there and chose to stay with them for another year until September 2010.
In September 2010, Magiera switched jobs to become a sports reporter for KTUU Channel 2, also in Anchorage, Alaska. She worked there until March 2012.

In April 2012, she became a sports director for WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin, and kept this position for three years until April 2015.
