Leslie was born in the Kansas area to parents Scott Picker (father) and Bobbye Picker (mother).
Growing up in Leawood, Kansas, allowed her a normal childhood, and she has said that ‘if she has children, she would love to raise them there.’

After graduating from high school, Leslie began her first degree at the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois. She graduated ‘Magna-Cum-Laude’ with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science.
While there, she developed an interest in Finance and also opted to then study Business at New York University. She earned a Master’s in Business with a major in Finance & Global Business from the NYU Stern School of Business.
After realizing that she could combine her love of Finance and Journalism, she was then accepted into Columbia University where she turned her Journalism Bachelors into a Masters degree. She graduated with honors.

Leslie’s first job out of university was a 7-month stint with the Fox Business Network where she worked as a Booker.
She said she accepted that job over other journalist opportunities, as it would allow her to remain in New York.

In January of 2011, Leslie began working with Bloomberg News. She began as a segment producer, but in 2013 they upgraded her to a reporter role focusing on economic matters.
After four years with Bloomberg, she moved on to The New York Times in September 2015. She worked there as their deals reporter for eighteen months.
In February 2017, after having received positive reviews on her reporting work in her previous two jobs, CNBC headhunted her to join their team for both television and digital reporting.

She was tasked with covering economic matters such as hedge funds and private equity. The role required her to relocate to New Jersey, which she happily did after her husband also secured a job in that area.

Leslie Picker Married Life :

Leslie met her husband Evan Haedicke in 2011 after being set up on a blind date by their parents’ mutual friend. At the time, she was still studying, while he was just breaking into his career in finance.

In December 2015, he took her to a Pinkberry yogurt store, and after getting her favorite frozen yogurt, he had her sit down and read a poem titled “4 Years and 1 month.” The poem chronicled the relationship between the two, and once she was finished reading…she proposed!
They were married on November 12th, 2015 at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The wedding was presided over by Rabbi Micah Caplan, keeping with Haedicke’s faith. However, Pickler chose not to convert to Judaism for the wedding. She also opted to keep her maiden name for career purposes.

Leslie welcomed her first child in December 2019. She returned to work on CNBC in June 2020.
Since she & her husband were both in the world of Finance, they started the hunt for a new, larger apartment, using a spreadsheet to analyze the various costs! They had started contributions to both 401Ks and building ‘rainy-day savings’ shortly after their wedding.

Leslie Picker was on CNBC for a full hour this morning. As usual, I found her to be extremely intelligent, articulate and interesting. Also very attractive, and with that hard-to-define Midwestern touch. So I looked her up here. Happy to compliment this highly accomplished woman. I am just wondering what took her husband so long to propose!

While interviewing Joe Reece regarding SilverBox’s investing in Black Rifle Co., Leslie came across as a typical frightened, anxious, and uninformed millennial. You could sense not only her fear of BRC but her ignorance was equally pathetic.
