Melissa was born and raised in Texas and considers it the best state in the United States! It was of no surprise to her family and friends, then, when she decided to stay in Texas to go to college.
She attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Baylor is a private Christian school and is ranked number 75 in the nation for academic excellence.
Melissa graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications.

Melissa has been married for several years and currently has two sons, both of whom are quite young. Unfortunately, her son Caleb was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2013, when he was just six years old. She also helped start a blog to document his journey & progress.

Melissa’s career began right after graduation, when she became the evening anchor at KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, Texas.

She then moved on to Florida’s News Channel or FN. This small station became obsolete in 2003 when it shut down due to lack of viewership.
In 2005, she returned to Texas a& began working at Fox 26 News, where she co-anchored the prime-time news at 9:00 p.m. each weekday night. In this position, she became a part of Fox 26’s longest-running anchor team.
During her time as a part of that team, Melissa interviewed a variety of notable people, from Mexico’s former President Vicente Fox to Bill O’Reilly and James Earl Jones.

In 2010, however, Melissa left the prime-time team and switched to anchoring the morning news because her son had begun school, and she wanted to be there when he got home.
She can now be seen on weekday mornings from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
