Sinead was born at the St Michael’s Hospital in Dun Laoghaire, a suburb of Dublin.
Her family included her parents (her mother is an archaeologist) and a younger brother named Conor who is deaf.
Desmond is a polyglot i.e. She can speak French, Italian, English and German fluently.

For her education, Desmond first attended the Rathmichael Parish National School, followed by studies at the Holy Child Killiney Secondary School. Later, she received a degree in Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English and Drama.
