Reynold was born in Surabaya, Indonesia, on 4th December 1993, to parents Boyke Malada (mother) and Junarmo Poernomo (father). He is the youngest of 3 siblings and has two older brothers named Arnold and Ronald.
Poernomo’s family relocated to Australia when he was very young. His mother earlier worked as a Certified Commercial Cooker Trainer & is now the owner of Sydney patisserie Artplate. She inspired Reynold to be a chef and taught him some of the tricks of the trade.

Reynold’s brother Arnold Poernomo is also a professional chef and has appeared on the MasterChef Indonesia show as a judge.
