- Ahmed was 12 years old when his family had to flee his native country of Somalia. Since the end of a dictatorship in the 1990s, Somalia had been beset by civil conflict, with various tribes at constant war with each other.
- This descent into tribalism tore up the country since and resulted in large-scale immigration.
- Ahmed’s family had to flee to the USA due to their home being on a different tribe’s territory.
- After receiving his US citizenship, Ahmed changed his name to Hirsi. He was born Ahmed Aden.
Married Life and Children :
- In 2002, Ahmed and Ilhan Omar applied for a marriage certificate, but the application was never finalized. They were nevertheless together according to Muslim tradition and had two children together.
- In 2008, the two separated and Ilhan officially married a British citizen, whom she divorced later on.
- In 2011, Ahmed and Ilhan were reunited, and had another child together, their third one.
- In 2018, the two got officially married after many years of being together.

- He worked as a personal banker for Wells Fargo from February 2005 to May 2016.

He is the Executive Director of the company and describes it as being a financial advice service for immigrants and immigrant communities. The company gives them the tools and knowledge to deal with buying property, understanding banking and taxes, and enabling the possibility of entrepreneurship.
