- Chasten Buttigieg is known to be the husband of Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Pete ran for the Democratic nomination for Presidential elections in 2020.
Personal Life : Parents, Family and Education
- Chasten Glezman was born on June 23, 1989, in Travers City, Michigan.
- He was raised in a religious Roman Catholic family and is the youngest of three boys. He has mentioned in the past that he came out to his parents when he was 18 years old, right before he moved out.
- While studying at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, Chasten studied in Germany as an exchange student. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in theater and global studies in 2011.
- He worked for three years before moving to Chicago to start his postgraduate studies at DePaul University, while working part-time as a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools. He graduated with a Masters of Education in curriculum studies.

Married Life and Relationship :
- In 2015, while Chasten was a graduate student, he met Pete Buttigieg through a dating app called Hinge. In an interview Chasten mentioned that the couple spoke over face time for several weeks before meeting in person. He travelled to South Bend, Indiana in September of 2015 for their first meeting and date. On their first date, Chasten ate a scotched egg!
- Chasten moved in with his then boyfriend, Pete in late 2016 and kept travelling to Chicago for three days a week till he finished his Masters.
- Pete and Chasten got married on June 16, 2018 at the Cathedral of Saint James Episcopal church in Downtown South Bend which was officiated by Reverand Brian G. Grantz.
- After their wedding ceremony and before reaching the reception, Chasten and Pete stopped at a LGBTQ Pride Week block party to thank the community for being supportive of their union.
- The wedding featured local food like tacos and sliders and arcade games such as Skee-Ball machines. The song “When You Say Nothing At All” was used for the couple’s first dance.

- After finishing up his Bachelors, Chasten moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he landed a job as a teaching artist for First Stage, children’s theater and academy. In past interviews, he has always talked about his love for theatre and how while growing up he preferred acting out skits than joining his brothers in throwing ball or working on cars.
- After moving to South Bend to live with Pete, Chasten started working as a substitute teacher at South Bend Public Schools.
- Later, he landed a job at Montessori Academy of Edison Lakes as a humanities teacher to junior high students. The Academy is located at Mishawaka, which is a few miles east of South Bend. After his husband announced his political campaign, Chasten took a leave of absence to assist him.
