Bea was born with the full name Frances Beatrix Spade in 2005 to fashion entrepreneurs, Andy and Kate Spade.
Kate and Andy were married in 1994. They preferred calling their daughter by her middle name ‘Beatrix,’ which they often shortened to Bea.

Bea’s father Andy Spade is the brother of famous comedian and actor, David Spade who is best known for his appearance in the sitcom “Rules of Engagement” among other things.
The actress Rachel Brosnahan is Bea’s cousin. Bea is also the niece of Reta Brosnahan Saffo and the granddaughter of the late U.S. Navy veteran Frank Brosnahan.

The Famous Parents :

Bea’s parents met in college at Arizona State University. Her mother Kate was studying journalism. They tied the knot a few years later in 1994.
Andy and Kate became business partners and decided to create their own line of fashion accessories. The couple were married for well over two decades until Kate’s tragic death in 2018.
After the birth of Bea, her mother decided to take time away from her business for a decade so that she could raise her. She sold her share in Kate Spade New York in 2006 to Neiman Marcus and officially left the fashion business world in 2007.

Despite being the daughter of famous parents, Bea was kept out of the spotlight most of her life.
Kate committed suicide by hanging in June of 2018 after leaving a note to Bea in which she explained that it was not her fault & to ‘Ask Daddy.’ The body was discovered by housekeeper in Kate’s NYC apartment.
