Ryan Piers Williams is an American actor, writer and director, who is also the husband of Ugly Betty star America Ferrera.

Ryan was born on May 13, 1981, in El Paso, Texas.
Family : He was an only child, whose grandparents played a large part in his upbringing.
While still attending high school, he began working in a film editing role at KVIA. He has said that it was this work that inspired his love of film making.

Education : Initially beginning his studies at the University of Texas and produced many short videos in his time there.
He later transferred to the University of Southern California (USC). He graduated from USC School of Arts, he was accepted into an internship programme to be mentored by Stephen Soderbergh.
As of 2017, he still considers Soderbergh to be his idol and the two are in regular contact.

Working as a casting director in 2009, Ryan cast actress America Ferrera in his movie “The Dry Land,” which he had also written and went on to produce.
The movie began filming in 2010, and the two began dating soon after.

They got engaged later that year and were wed on June 27, 2011.
The wedding took place in a lavish event in Chappaqua, New York, at the home of Ferrera’s Ugly Betty co-star Vanessa Williams.
