Mary Jean Lastimosa is an entrepreneur from the Philippines, who also won the “Miss Universe Philippines” contest in 2014.

Parents, Early Life and Education :

Mary Jean was born on November 23, 1987, in North Cotabato, in the South of the Philippines.
Being born into a very strict religious family, she attended a Catholic school.
Her mother was of Philippine descent, while her father was an Arab businessman, and they left Mary Jean and her older sister Maricar in the permanent care of a maternal uncle Sergio Lastimosa when she was 7, so that they could work overseas and send money back to the family.

She attended the University of Mindanao after graduating from high school and receiving 3 scholarships for academic excellence, and earned herself a degree in Computer Engineering.
She labels herself as a chocolate addict and has said she most enjoys travelling and spending time at the beach.
Lastimosa has said that she considers her sister to be her best friend.

Career, Job, Salary and Net Worth :

After failing to land a job straight out of University that needed the use of her computer engineering degree, she began working in the administration side of various businesses.
She has said that it was those jobs that taught her what she needed to open her own business.

Having been a vegetarian for most of her life, and also an avid fitness fan, she also studied to become a personal trainer. This lead to her opening her own fitness and wellbeing spa in Davao.
Mary Jean has said that she was very grateful for her business; as it allowed her the opportunity to provide her for her family while still pursuing her own Miss Universe dreams. `
She has acknowledged that being able to do both is considered rare in her native country and that she feels extremely blessed for the opportunity.

Mary Jean Lastimosa Miss Universe Journey :

After dreaming about beauty pageants from the age of 7 upwards, she began appearing on the local circuit at the age of 15.

She won some local titles and as praised for her talent segment, which involved her dancing. She was also labeled as ‘The girl with the million-dollar smile’.
Lastimosa work her way up the ranks, and in 2011 she has crowned runner-up in Miss Universe Philippines, having lost out to Chauncey Supsup.
Not deterred, she entered the same competition again in 2012, this time placing just in the top 5.

In 2013, she turned 26, and she believed this meant her Miss Universe dreams were over as the cut off age was 25. In that same year, they decided to raise the age to 26, and she immediately entered again.
This time around, she won and went on to compete at the Miss Universe World Pageant.
She made it to the Top 10, but failed to make it any further.
