Thomas (who passed away unexpectedly in 2009) had a successful career as a Professional Engineer, working for various companies including Tippens, US Filter, and SMS, with international assignments in countries like China, Thailand, Netherlands, Germany, and Italy.
Lindsey has a sister, Mallory Zubritsky. She has talked about how she was first introduced to the field of medicine by her grandmother who was a nurse for almost 50 years.

Growing up with anatomy books that took the place of bedtime stories, Lindsey never wanted to do anything else in her life but this. Her interest in dermatology was sparked during her teenage years when a dermatologist diagnosed a close family member with malignant melanoma.
