Shep was born in 1980 on Head Island in South Carolina, with the full name of Shepard Rose.
He has a brother named Whittaker Rose and a sister named Kathrine Rose, both of whom are practicing attorney. Whittaker specializes in construction litigation, while Katherine works with bankruptcy and foreclosure law.
With law running through his family, he is also the son of Father William Shepard Rose Jr. His dad is best known for being appointed as the assistant attorney general of the tax division in the department of justice by the then President Reagan.

He has stated he is more of a creative soul like his mother Frances Rose. She is known in South Carolina for being a homemaker but also for being a patron of the arts.
