The spot quickly grew popular with both locals and tourists heading to work or adventures on the outskirts of one of Costa Rica’s rainforests.
After working there for a few years, Lucas decided to return to the United States and try her hand at Los Angeles’s competitive food scene.

New Restaurants :

After Waylynn graduated from culinary school, she quickly made a name for herself in the city, and eventually began working at two major Los Angeles restaurants: Patina and The Bazaar.
Both establishments eventually earned a 4-star rating while she was there.
In 2011, she left her other ventures and opened up fōnuts.

The shop has a seasonal menu, and does not fry its donuts like they are traditionally made, but bakes them instead.

TV Shows & New Found Fame :

After gaining a stellar reputation as a pastry chef, the Food Network approached her about a new show they were creating called Cake Wars, in which bakers from different places across the US came and competed for a cash prize and the opportunity to create a cake for a high-profile event.

The show would be different from other cake competition shows because of its emphasis on taste as well as decoration.
Waylynn became a judge for the show, and continues to be one today.
She also appeared on Eat. Drink. Love. in 2013, a Bravo show about successful businesswomen in male-dominated fields.

Love to watch the Bakers work so hard and diligently and put their heart and soul into this show But I mute the judges because the blonde judge constantly says I wish this I wish that she’s so critical and ridiculous with her criticism and the bald guy he’s more subtle and not so harsh I just want to see them bake and win Can’t stand when the judges go over with these Poopoo faces and cut their work up tell him how worried they are so ridiculous
