Christie Ileto was born on October 3, 1985, in Washington, DC.
She has a younger sister and is a third-generation Filipino, as her father is originally from San Ildefonso, Bulacan in the Philippines.

She studied at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism. She was also a part of Northwestern News Network, a student-run newscast for the city of Evanston.
Christie married her husband Brandon Patterson on December 10, 2016. She was pictured walking down the aisle with her father, and later, the newlyweds posed for a photo in front of the Christmas tree at Union Station in Washington, D.C.
In late 2020, the couple had their first child – a baby daughter named Clark Patterson. When Christie’s doctor checked her six weeks after giving birth, he noticed something…she was suffering from postpartum depression. Christie was surprised as thought that the emotions she’d been experiencing were caused by a lack of sleep. Christie started her career as a reporter at WAFF, Huntsville, AL, where she did the news in the Tennessee Valley. She covered extreme weather like tornadoes and covered the general election. She worked there from October 2007 to September 2009.
Her next work stint led her to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she worked for KOAT-TV as a reporter. She was hired as a General Assignment Reporter for all newscasts. She covered numerous live reporting and breaking news coverage on a daily basis while working here for another two years from October 2009 to 2012.

While covering, Christie was accidentally maced twice and was a target of rogue beer bottles thrown around. She stood firm till she was pushed back for fear of being engulfed in flames after the riots turned extremely violent.
After the riots had ended, she continued her coverage of the aftermath that included citywide protests for police reform, the sweeping changes to police brass, and the undercurrent of violence that gripped the city in the months that followed.
