- Ellen grew up alongside her sister Cindy in a lower-income Spanish family.
- Parents : Thomas “Tom” Kraemer Lundy (father, passed away in 2011) and Emma Leyva Duarte (mother, passed away in 2016). Ellen’s dad was a Math-Science teacher and a wrestling coach, who had also served in the army. Her mom was a housewife.
- To ensure that her parents had the opportunity to work – a large portion of Ellen’s childhood was spent in Mexico with her maternal grandmother.

- Ellen’s first role out of university was working as an intern for a CBS affiliate station in Phoenix.
- Her work on the internship landed her a writing job with the network, and they eventually promoted her into a reporting role.
- From there Ellen moved to KOVR in Sacramento where she landed her first role as a news anchor.
- After staying in that role for just one year, she moved to Los Angeles, California, after accepting a news reporter roe with ABC7’s Eyewitness News.
- Ellen also worked as their health reporter for a number of years, before she was finally promoted to the role of lead morning anchor.
- As of 2020, she is still doing the morning show on weekends but is also responsible for the weeknight 4 PM & 6 PM newscast. In 2020, she also completed 25 years at the station.

Ellen is very professional and likeable and I enjoy her watching her news report. She is very good looking too (not sure about her legs). She is very REAL and not fake like many other women reporters and that makes me very comfortable to watch her news cast. Wish you all the best Ellen in your life, career and with your family.
I have worked with Ellen for a number of years and am always at the “crack of dawn” doing the local KABC-TV morning news and events broadcast. She and I had to have “our coffee”. Unfortunately, I had some stuff brewing too and I can remember a number of peeking-around-the-corner scenarios I shared with her. She was and still is a dream for me. I love her as a friend just as much today if not more.
She is so professional, likeable as well as so pretty! Love to watch her and David Ono together on newscasts.

I worked in the news room at that time and Ellen was very present as well as being in the field during our live coverage of the Los Angeles Marathons.
