  • Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Meredith is the youngest of three children in her family.
  • Meredith went to Oakland Catholic and afterward attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, where she majored in Communications, with a minor in political science. Meredith graduated summa-cum-laude and was awarded the Wakefield prize for excellence in Mass Communications.
  • She played basketball and captained her college basketball team. Whilst in college, she hosted a popular dating game on campus.
  • Meredith had always wanted to be a reporter, dancer, or singer, but she depreciatingly says she has “a terrible voice.” After completing a postgraduate internship at Fox News in New York, she was convinced that broadcasting was her calling and has never looked back ever since.

  • Meredith’s broadcasting career began with a stint as an anchor/reporter at WATM/WWCP-TV, the Fox/ABC affiliates in Johnstown, Pa.
  • She then moved to an anchor/reporter position at WPBF-TV, WESH 2’s sister station in West Palm Beach.
  • Meredith joined NBC affiliate WESH-TV, in October 2011, as their weekend evening anchor.
  • She was promoted to morning anchor in August 2012, and in December the same year, Meredith became the evening anchor at WESH.
  • Meredith had covered several high-profile national news, including Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme and Tropical Storm Fay. She was quoted as saying one of her memorable news was the fifth anniversary of the September 11th Flight 93 plane crash in Shanksville, Pa.

  • Meredith won the title “Miss Irish Smiling Eyes” in Pittsburgh in 2001, a title her mother won in 1967. The title includes a ride in the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. The prize was a trip to Ireland, which Meredith couldn’t go on because she sprained her ankle playing basketball. Her family did go to Ireland sometime later to celebrate her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary.
  • While her passion has always been broadcasting, Meredith’s first job was working as a golf caddy. Her dad taught her how to do it, and she had been doing it as a summer job. Through her caddy work, she met Michael Jordan and Mario Lemieux.
  • When asked if she could interview anyone dead or alive, Meredith chose Mother Teresa. She said Mother Teresa’s selflessness always moved her. While she has covered many high-profile stories, interviewing her dad after he was diagnosed with cancer was her most memorable. She goes on to say how her parents influenced her, telling her to always believe in herself.

  1. I graduated from Allegheny college in 1962 and like to watch a fellow alum. I graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and became a United Methodist minister receiving my elders’ orders in 1976. I am a retired elder having served the Western Pa Conference for 331/2 years. I retired and moved to Titusville Fl in 2002.As noted, I like to watch a fellow alum. I think she does a great job!
