Sarah Farmer lives in Bournemouth, on the southern coast of England, by the sea.
She is married and has two children, twin boys.
For her education, Farmer attended Bournemouth University from 1999 to 2002. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multi-Media Journalism with a focus on Journalism.

While at university, Sarah took work assignments at ITV Meridian, BBC Radio Gloucester, Gloucester Echo, and the Top of the Pops magazine. She shadowed reporters and observed the inner workings of broadcasting and journalism.

Soon after graduating university, Sarah began her career at the radio station Star 107.5 in Cheltenham.

She then became a reporter and newsreader in Bristol, where she was in charge of hosting the weekend show.
Sarah was also an assistant programme editor at ITV, another Freeview British television channel, from December 2005 to October 2010. Here, she produced, reported, and presented regional news and programmes.

Sarah has presented a live broadcast from the Needles Lighthouse on the Isle of Wight, a 19th-century lighthouse found on the chalk rock formation known as ‘The Needles’.
She has frequently participated in the yearly BBC charity event Children in Need. Some of the activities she has done for the charity have been wing walking and sky-diving during the Bournemouth Air Festival.
Sarah states that she immediately felt like home the moment she moved to Bournemouth for university. She is currently raising a family there.
