► Vijeta Deol is the sister of Bollywood actors Sunny Deol (Born 1956) and Bobby Deol (Born 1969) & elder daughter of actor Dharmendra and his first wife Prakash Kaur. Prakash and Dharmendra married at a young age. Prakash was only 19 at that time.
► Vijeta came from a Punjabi filmy family – Her Father Dharmendra was a regular school teacher’s son but shot into superstardom with Ramesh Sippy’s movie Sholay in 1975. He also starred in a number of other blockbusters such as Chupke Chupke and Apne. Actor Abhay Deol is her cousin.
► Though still married to Prakash Kaur, Dharam dated Bollywood diva Hema Malini for five years and later got married to her in 1980. By that time he had four children already – Sunny, Bobby, Ajeeta and Vijeta.
► Later Dharmendra had two more daughters with Hema – Thus Vijeta has two more step-sisters Isha Deol (Born 1981) and Ahana Deol (Born 1985)
► Prakash and Hema couldn’t be more different from each other – Hema was a glamorous actress and Prakash was a regular housewife.
► In an old interview, Prakash even defended Dharmendra’s decision to marry a second time. She also mentioned that he was a good father to his first 4 kids, despite the marriage to Hema.
