Benjamin Robinson was born in Oxford, England, on December 30, 1980, to an English father and an American mother.
His father, Patrick Robinson, is an acclaimed published author and the co-writer of the bestseller Lone Survivor. His mother taught him how to cook, and by the time he was only, five years old, he had learned most of her cooking secrets.

He has three siblings: two brothers, James and Andrew, and one sister, Kate.
Ben’s parents relocated to Point Isabella, Cape Cod, USA when he was still quite young. He spent all his summers there, but the rest of the year he was attending boarding school in rural England.
From 1988 to 1993, Ben attended the ‘Elstree School’ (a boarding school for children between 3 and 13, also located in Berkshire, England).

From 1994 to 1999, he attended the Bradfield College (a boarding school for children aged 13 to 18, also located in Berkshire, England).
Ben now lives in an apartment in Fort Lauderdale, South Florida.

Ben trained in Florence, Italy, under the guidance of the most highly lauded experts in the field.
He was also granted an apprenticeship at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant The Fat Duck, in Bray, England. The Fat Duck has three Michelin stars!
Following all his training on land, Ben then started working in the kitchens of yachts, making his way up to becoming a head chef on several yachts. He has been working as a head chef for over fifteen years now.

Ben has also participated in Bravo TV shows Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean as an executive chef for six seasons in total. Both shows had him traveling around the world on mega yachts as part of their kitchen crew.
Since July 2013, Ben has also been a certified health consultant.

Ben took a break of a few years from the Below Deck franchise to focus more on his own business. He has appeared on the most recent season (the fourth) of Below Deck Mediterranean, but he has now returned once more to dedicating himself to his businesses on land. He has stated that the yacht kitchens’ workload of almost twenty hours a day is not sustainable.
Ben has said that the first season of Below Deck Mediterranean was his favorite because it was situated in Greece.

Growing up between Cape Cod and the English countryside gave him a healthy appreciation for various types of food and cuisines. He spent his summers fishing and finding clams and his school years familiarising himself with fresh produce and game.
He worked as the head chef on the largest sailing yacht in the world, the Athena, a schooner in possession of James Clark.
