Dr Wilton Triggs grew up in a rural community in Triana, North Alabama. He was a child of a single parent and his childhood wasn’t an easy one.
From an early age, Wilton was taught that he had to work hard and make good grades to be successful in life. His mother had a hard time raising him and his brother alone and he remembers every tear his mom shed. She wanted Wilton to study hard so he could make a better life for his family.
Wilton was never interested in medicine originally. On the other hand, he had always wanted to be a research scientist and wanted to develop better medicines for diseases.

For his education, Wilton attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry with minors in Mathematics and Biology.
During his freshman year at college, medical television shows gave him a great appreciation for medicine. Until his sophomore year in college, the only formal exposure he had to medicine was through television and nothing else. He got fixated on how and why people felt ill on a micro and macroscopic level.
He enrolled in Meharry Medical College and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in 2013.

Wilton was interested in multiple disciplines in medical school but felt that plastic surgery was the best fit for him because of its multi-disciplinary nature.
