Kay’s youngest son Matthew committed suicide at the age of 27, on April 6, 2013, after suffering from years of depression. Kay too has suffered from depression for several years and speaks to this during her ministry.

At the age of 49, Kay was diagnosed with breast cancer, and a few years later with melanoma; again Kay used her circumstances as a beacon of faith and hope to reach others.

Kay has authored and co-authored several books, her first which was released in 2004, “Foundations: 11 Core Truths to Build Your Life On,” was co-authored with Pastor Tom Holladay.
