- Mary blamed the school for the abuse saying that all of them at school knew what was going on and decided to turn a blind eye because they wanted to protect their school. “They allowed this to happen. They knew in February, but they didn’t ban me. They never actually said they were banning me from school grounds. They never said they were banning me from working at any other school.”, she expressed in an interview.
- She was sentenced to 360 days in jail and was registered as an offender for ten years. The judge told her she could qualify for a work-release program and leave prison if she had a job but warned that any problems after release could mean additional penalties.

Mary Beth, I have read all of the news about what happened to you and feel you were done a great injustice. I’m sure very few faculty in that school could stand up to God and tell him they are pure. Go back two hundred years and at his age, men had a family with lots of kids. Time and other sinners were what got you in trouble. Take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of your life.

Mary Beth has the sweetest most understanding compassionate heart. She is so full of life and has such a gentle way about her that is innocent and carefree. She fell into trouble trying to help a wayward student. Like all of us, we all make mistakes. Don’t judge her for a small lapse in judgment. She did NOT decide to contact the 17-year-old boy due to a breakup. She continued dating her boyfriend, Cory Rude, until March of the next year (about 6 months after sleeping with the 17-year-old). She had been with Cory Rude since ~2012.
An added piece is that when she worked for Woody’s (before the trial), she proceeded to accept a meeting with the 17-year-old (who had recently turned 18), which worsened her situation. Crime Watch caught her in the act in person.

She’s not intelligent though she’s smart enough to at least admit her mistake, “I do take responsibility. I’m not shying away from this. I’m facing this head-on, ” Haglin said…….now what kind of idiot would make such a remark, not to mention what kind of idiot would be smart enough to become a teacher in the first place……You have to be at least somewhat smart to get a teaching credential to begin with, RIGHT!
Also, in Iowa, the age for consent is 16 years old……because she was in a position of authority is what got her in trouble, to begin with regardless of the age of the student……Therefore, next time you people/ANSWERMAN decide to become a teacher and have sex with a minor, 17 years or younger no matter what state you’re in, or a student, and you get caught, then see what happens……try getting any professional job after that, especially if you are required to register as a sex offender…..Therefore, being a stripper more than likely allows her to make much more money than a substitute teacher to begin with……not that I/we endorse such a profession though if you really want to put things into a financial perspective, what other options are there……REALLY!!!…..
The problem here is Mary Beth is a very bright and fairly mature (for 25) young lady. She is, however, gullible and not too streetwise. She breaks up with her boyfriend and falls for some kids nonsense when he calls her “His Empress.”
