Ali is not white. She is clearly Mexican.
I believe Vitali is Italian, not Mexican. Regardless, Italians, Sicilians, and Greeks were not considered ‘white’ by the US Government until the 1920s. So you’re not wrong.

As you can see, my maiden name is also Vitali. My dad was from Bellochi, Pessaro, Fano in the area of Ancona. His name was Bomeliano and my grandparents‘ names were Maria & Giuseppe. My great grandparents were Nazzareno Vitali and Florinda Santini. There were 7 children, Maria, Ida, Ugo, Giuseppe, Alessandro, Guilia & Adolfo. I have always wondered if there was any connection there.
