Dr Girish Oak is one of the most versatile and popular actors in Marathi movies, theatre and television. He was born in Nagpur, and hails from a Brahmin Family.
Having completed his degree in Medicine, he became a full time actor because of his love for theatre. Extremely active at the college level, he took part in the state plays competitions as well as intercollegiate ones.
Professionally, he began his career with a natak in 1984.
In his long career of 30+ years, he has performed in TV shows such as Eka hatachi tali, Bandini, Avantika, Ya Sukhano Ya, Kukuchaku and many more. He also has acted his around 40+ nataks and the same number of films. Comedy, serious or dramatic, he can portray the role effortlessly.
Along with acting, he is an excellent poetry writer as well. He also has a few published books to his name. His daughter Girija Oak is an actress in the industry. Ram Gopal Verma had used his voice in one of the movies without permission, but later apologised to him.
