Autria Godfrey is a journalist, reporter, and an Emmy winning news anchor, who worked for eight years at ABC7. She quit the network in 2019, and transitioned into becoming a full-time mom! In 2017, Godfrey was brought to media attention after being arrested for public intoxication.

Autria was born in 1984 in a middle-class family.
Growing up, she had keen interest for debates & received extra school credit for work she contributed to her local newspaper.
Education : Autria is a proud 2006 graduate of the Texas A&M University, and she also studied at the American University in as part of the Washington semester program.

Relationships, Dating, Engaged and Marriage :

In 2008, she married fellow anchor Scott Thuman, after having dated for quite a few years.
After the wedding, she began to use the name Autria Thuman professionally.

Although there was much talk about their wedding and plans for children, they began to have troubles and divorced in February of 2012. Allegedly, the stress of both of their jobs may have contributed to the breakdown of the marriage.
In June 2017, Autria got married for the second time at the Dumbarton House in Washington. The groom’s name was Paul Lindsay.

After graduating from Texas A&M, she caught the eye of Charlottesville producers, and they gave her a start, working initially as a weekend anchor for Good Morning Charlottesville. She was eventually bumped up to the role of lead anchor.
She received praise for her reporting work on the show, but her most notable work was covering the following events: The Virginia Tech shootings; The death of Reverend Jerry Falwell & The visit by Queen Elizabeth II to historic Williamsburg
She covered the US 2008 presidential election and was seen to be one of the most intelligent reporters on the campaign trail.

In February 2011, Autria started working for WJLA-TV as a reporter/anchor. In October 2013, she was famously hired to replace her ex-husband as the lead anchor for the Good Morning Washington programme and ABC7 News @ Noon.

In February 2017, Autria was arrested for public intoxication.

It is said the charges stem from her returning to a venue with her friends on a ‘girls night,’ that they had already been removed from that night due to intoxication.
According to police, the girls were asked to leave the venue as they were starting fights and was told not to return to the bar. However, Autria did return, and they immediately arrested her, suggesting she could sleep off the alcohol in a cell.
When asked for a comment Shamia Holoway, the community relations director for WJLA, stated that the station would not be commenting on any personal issues.

Although she was arrested, she was not officially charged. Her hearing date was set to May 2017, and she is expected to seek that the issue not be recorded on her permanent record.
Contrary to popular belief, she is not related to late broadcaster Arthur Godfrey.
