Laura Elizabeth Bassett was born on August 6, 1983, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to parents Jeffrey M. Bassett (father), an attorney, and Cynthia Jane ‘Cecette’ Smith Bassett (mother), a tutoring volunteer and board member for Hope for Opelousas.
Laura is the eldest of three siblings: she has two younger brothers, Taylor Jefferson Bassett and Scott Bassett. She also has two young nieces, Vivvie and Gia, who often feature on her Instagram posts. Her grandmother completed 96 years in November 2021.
