- As hearing aids are expensive and are therefore often inaccessible for those in need, Spivey strongly advocates people to support non-profit organizations like Aid the Silent, who give financial aid to children and teenagers who require hearing aids.
- It was through her job at KSAT-TV that Spivey realized that she would benefit from a hearing aid.
